Connectors play a crucial role in data integration by acting as bridges between different systems, applications, or data sources, allowing them to communicate and exchange data seamlessly. Their primary function is to facilitate the movement and transformation of data between disparate systems, ensuring that data can flow where it is needed most, which simplifies the overall integration process.

By using connectors, integration platforms can standardize the methods through which data is fetched, sent, or transformed, significantly reducing the complexity involved in connecting various systems. This simplification leads to more efficient application support, as it minimizes the need for custom coding and complex configurations that would otherwise be necessary to enable communication between different technologies.

The other options pertain to functions that are not directly related to the role of connectors. For instance, providing training resources is focused on educating users on using a platform but does not involve the technical integration of data. Managing user authentication involves securing access to applications or data but is separate from the primary task of transferring and integrating data. Performing data backups is important for data integrity and security, but it doesn't relate to the core function of connectors in facilitating integration processes.
